Thierry Henry Named as Premier League’s Greatest-Ever!
According to readers of the Daily Mirror newspaper, current Montreal Impact boss Thierry Henry is the greatest-ever player in English Premier League history.
The English tabloid organized the Mirror’s Football World Cup of Premier League Greats, and the former Arsenal striker emerged the winner thierry henry facts.
The newspaper selected 32 of the EPL’s greatest talents, holding a random draw to determine eight groups with four players in each. Readers voted for one player in each of the groups, and the top two from each went through to the last sixteen.
The round of 16 was straight knockout, again with readers voting for their selection in a daily head to head.
The four players that emerged in the semi-finals were Henry, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes.
Henry (46%) topped a strong Group G which also included Roy Keane (36%), Frank Lampard (16%) and Harry Kane (3%). Then in the Round of 16 saw off the challenge of another former Arsenal great, Robin van Persie, polling a mammoth 85% of the vote.
Henry next topped Steven Gerard in the quarter-final gaining 57% of the poll, and in the semi-final emerged victorious over Cristiano Ronaldo, with 56% voting for the Frenchman.
He faced Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, winner of a ridiculous 13 Premier League titles, in the final, and carried off the honour with a resounding 81% of the vote over Giggs, current boss of the Welsh national team.
